Trophy APS Selected as Baseline APS for New Leopard 2 A8 MBT Configuration, Contracts Awarded for Germany and Norway

EuroTrophy GmbH is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a significant contract by KNDS (KMW+NEXTER Defense Systems) for the Leopard 2 A8 Main Battle Tank (MBT) programs in Germany and Norway. KNDS, a merger of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Nexter, is a European leader in land defence systems with operations in Germany and France. EuroTrophy’s Trophy Active Protection System (APS) has been selected as a key component of the Leopard 2 A8’s standard configuration.

This selection marks a significant milestone for Trophy, solidifying its status as the most successful APS integrated into Western Main Battle Tanks. It has previously been integrated into platforms like the Leopard 2, Abrams M1, and Merkava IV, as well as lighter armoured vehicles such as the Namer APC and various wheeled and tracked Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs).

In February 2023, the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA) entrusted KNDS with the delivery of 54 Leopard 2 A8 MBTs, all of which will be equipped with the Trophy APS. Additionally, in May 2023, the Federal Acquisition Office of the German Armed Forces (BAAINBw) signed a framework agreement with KMW for the delivery of up to 123 Leopard 2 tanks in the A8 standard configuration.

EuroTrophy, based in Germany, serves as the European hub for the Trophy APS and is the sole provider of a combat-proven, NATO fielded Active Protection System of European origin. The company also offers comprehensive services, including vehicle integration support, maintenance, introduction-into-service assistance, and through-life support for its APS.

EuroTrophy remains dedicated to the European defence community, committed to supplying cutting-edge, life-saving capabilities to enhance the security and effectiveness of armoured vehicle operations.
