MAIDEN VISIT OF JORDAN ARMED FORCES TRAINING DELEGATION TO SNC AND INA

A three-member delegation from the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), led by Commander Hazem, I Maitah, embarked on a maiden visit to the Southern Naval Command (SNC), Kochi, and the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, from 29 April to 04 May 2024. This historic visit was aimed at fostering military training exchanges, in line with agreements reached during the second consultative meeting on defence cooperation between the two nations in March 2023.

During their visit to the professional training schools of SNC, Kochi, the delegation explored various training facilities. Highlights included familiarisation with simulators, engaging in professional interactions, and witnessing demonstrations of Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) & Diving Operations. Additionally, the delegation was treated to a guided tour of the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and the ship repair facilities at Cochin Shipyard Ltd. Discussions with Commodore Sritanu Guru, Commodore Training, Southern Naval Command, centred on avenues for collaboration in naval training and professional courses between the Indian Navy and the Jordan Armed Forces.

At INA, the delegation paid a courtesy call to Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty, Commandant of INA, and exchanged insights on training methodologies, leadership strategies, and operational experiences. They were provided with an overview of the state-of-the-art training facilities at the Academy and engaged in discussions on best practices.

The visit of the Jordan Armed Forces Training Delegation represents a significant stride towards deepening cooperation between the Indian Navy and the Jordan Armed Forces within the broader framework of defence collaboration between the two countries.
