DIMDEX 2024: Nexter, a company of KNDS, has offered the VBCI to modernize Qatar’s infantry units.

Nexter is proposing a 100% French solution, offering the latest evolution of the combat-proven French Infantry Fighting Vehicle (VBCI MkII) to strengthen the Qatar Armed Forces. This proposal aligns with the 2030 vision for Qatar, aiming to develop the Qatar Emiri Defence Industrial and Technology Base. The plan includes establishing a final assembly line, maintenance and support facilities, and the production of a wide range of ammunition, all localized to enhance Qatar’s sovereignty.

Nexter also presents its innovative ammunition range for medium-caliber, artillery, and main battle tanks, which can be utilized by vehicles such as the Leopard 2 tank and the PZH 2000.

The VBCI MkII to Renew Qatar’s Armed Forces

Nexter, a company of KNDS, has a longstanding partnership in the field of armored vehicles with the Qatar Armed Forces, exemplified by the AMX 30. Today, Nexter proposes to renew this partnership with a state-of-the-art 8×8 infantry fighting vehicle, drawing on years of successful evaluation in Qatar and lessons learned by the French Army.

The VBCI MkII represents an improved version of the French Army’s model already in service. Its new T40 turret integrates an Akeron MP missile and the 40mm cased-telescoped ammunition (CTA) gun capable of penetrating 140mm of armor at 1500m. These weapons provide comprehensive coverage against all types of land threats, from infantry to main battle tanks.

The VBCI has been combat-proven by the French army for over a decade, demonstrating exceptional combat capabilities. Notably, the VBCI saved the lives of all crew and soldiers it carried during war operations.

The JAGUAR for Reconnaissance and Combat Missions

The JAGUAR reconnaissance and combat vehicle, which entered service within the French forces in 2021 and will soon be in service with the Belgian army, is showcased as well.

The JAGUAR integrates Nexter, Arquus, and Thales expertise, featuring a turret equipped with the 40CTA gun and the Akeron MP missile. Weighing 25 tons, this vehicle combines cutting-edge weaponry, advanced vetronics for communication and combat, and excellent mobility.

The showcased JAGUAR is equipped with the manned T40 turret, part of a turret family utilizing the same weapon system. With a 60° elevation of the cannon and the new Anti- Aerial Air Burst Ammunition, the RCT40 will contribute to Counter-UAV capability.
