Thales Expands Footprint in India with a Second Office in Bengaluru

Thales, a global leader in Defence, Aerospace, and Digital Identity and security, celebrated the inauguration of its new office in Bengaluru, marking a significant milestone in its Make in India roadmap and aligning with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision. The ceremony was officiated by Yannick Assouad, Executive Vice President, of Avionics, Thales, alongside Ashish Saraf, VP and Country Director for Thales in India.

The newly launched office serves as an extension of Thales’ Engineering Competence Centre (ECC) inaugurated in 2019. This expansion supports Thales’ ambitious plans in the region and aims to double engineering staff in India by 2027. The existing ECC, a pioneering Centre in India focused on software and hardware capabilities for civil and defence businesses, has contributed significantly to job creation and skill development, boasting a team of over 500 members.

Thales allocates approximately €4 billion globally in Research and Development (R&D) annually. The Bengaluru ECC, along with another centre in Noida, constitutes one of the Group’s three major engineering competency centre hubs.

The Bengaluru engineering teams are deeply engaged in developing high-value systems for aerospace and defence, including Air Traffic Management, avionics systems, flight management, radar software, and airborne Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance tactical management systems.

The new state-of-the-art facility showcases a modern, sustainable, and inclusive workspace. Drawing inspiration from Dravidian architectural styles and Brahmi script, the office design harmonizes contemporary elements with traditional aesthetics. It’s designed to be disability-friendly, with intelligent workspaces, abundant green spaces, and energy-efficient features, reflecting Thales’ global commitments to society and the environment.

Mr. Ashish Saraf, VP and Country Director for India at Thales, expressed pride in expanding their presence in India with the Bengaluru facility. He highlighted the organization’s focus on developing local capabilities while leveraging global expertise to drive innovation for Indian and global customers.
