Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Satellogic Announce Successful Launch of TSAT-1A Satellite

Tata Advanced Systems Limited (“TASL”), India’s premier private sector aerospace and defense solutions provider, and Satellogic Inc. (NASDAQ: SATL), a leading provider of sub-metre resolution Earth Observation (“EO”) data, proudly declare the successful deployment of TASL’s TSAT-1A satellite into orbit. The satellite was launched aboard the Bandwagon-1 mission, carried by SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket, from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA, at 23:16 UTC on April 7, 2024.

TSAT-1A, India’s first sub-metre resolution optical satellite, was meticulously assembled at TASL’s state-of-the-art Assembly, Integration, and Testing (“AIT”) plant situated at its Vemagal facility in Karnataka. This accomplishment signifies the fruitful collaboration between TASL and Satellogic, as outlined in the partnership agreement signed in November 2023. Leveraging Satellogic’s expertise and TASL’s proficiency in complex system integration, the collaborative effort led to the development and integration of an advanced Earth Observation satellite in India.

Sukaran Singh, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of TASL, remarked, “This milestone underscores TASL’s steadfast commitment to the space sector. It represents the first stride in our journey. Our partnership with Satellogic has enabled us to deliver a sub-metre optical satellite, assembled and tested entirely in India, which was successfully launched by SpaceX. We extend our gratitude to various Indian Government authorities for their unwavering support and requisite permissions.”

TSAT-1A is poised to revolutionize high-resolution optical satellite imaging with its enhanced collection capacity, dynamic range, and low-latency delivery through its multispectral and hyperspectral capabilities.

Emiliano Kargieman, CEO at Satellogic, extended his congratulations to both teams for their efficient collaboration in bringing TSAT-1A to fruition and readiness for launch. He highlighted the adaptability of Satellogic’s Space Systems program, offering governments and enterprises the flexibility to tailor a proven satellite model to their specific requirements and achieve orbit within a favorable timeframe.
