Rajni Kant Mishra Assumes Charge as DG BSF
Rajni Kant Mishra, IPS, took over as BSF’s 24th Director General on 30 September 2018 replacing K.K. Sharma.
Previously, Mishra was serving as the chief of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) before he was assumed the charge of Director General of the Border Security Force. His appointment as the BSF chief was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Appointments on 27 October 2018.
Born on 2 August 1959 in Patna (Bihar), Rajni Kant Mishra is a post graduate (MSc. Geology). Besides undergoing a number of in-service courses, he did Mid-Career Training Programme (MCTP) Phase-5 from London (United Kingdom). He joined BSF on 16th April 2013 as Inspector General, BSF and served as IG Tripura and South Bengal Frontier. He also served as Inspector General (Adm) FHQ BSF.
In his early days in the Indian Police Service, he served in Lucknow, Allahabad, Kanpur, Dehradun and several other districts of Uttar Pradesh besides stints in PAC, Intelligence, Training etc. in various capacities.
Mishra, a 1984-batch IPS officer, will serve the post “up to his superannuation on 31 August 2019, or until further orders, whichever is earlier”, said the Ministry of Personnel.
