MBDA Signs Two Partnership Agreements for Development Projects in Greece

MBDA has solidified its commitment to fostering collaborative innovation in Greece by signing two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Greek companies MILTECH and ALTUS under its “R&D Booster” initiative.

MBDA’s “R&D Booster” initiative, a component of the strategic partnership agreement between France and Greece signed in 2021, is aimed at nurturing long-term collaborations within Europe.

In partnership with MILTECH and ALTUS, MBDA will embark on projects centred around the development of systems based on the AKERON MP missile.

The initial phase of collaboration with MILTECH involves the development of an AKERON MP launch kit. MBDA plans to introduce this kit to the global market as an option for light automatic turrets equipped with low-calibre guns.

Under the second partnership agreement with ALTUS, MBDA aims to develop a series of tactical drones outfitted with AKERON MP missiles. The collaboration will commence with the validation of AKERON MP missile integration onto ALTUS’s new ATLAS 8 HEAVY LIFTER UAV.

Eric Béranger, CEO of MBDA, expressed his enthusiasm for these new partnership agreements, emphasizing their role in nurturing long-term activities with the Hellenic defence industry. He highlighted the enduring relationship between MBDA and Greece, underscoring MBDA’s commitment to fostering, supporting, and reinforcing industrial cooperation in Europe.

These development projects complement existing initiatives in production, services, and research and development, all aimed at strengthening the bond between MBDA and the Hellenic Defence Industrial Base.
