Launch of Third ACTCM Barge, LSAM 17 (Yard 127) at M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane

In a significant stride towards bolstering indigenous defense production, the third Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile (ACTCM) Barge, LSAM 17 (Yard 127), was successfully launched by Cmde V Pravin, AWPS (Mbi) on 27 Oct 23 at M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane. This achievement marks a proud milestone in the “Make in India” initiative of the Ministry of Defence.

Underlining the collaborative efforts, a contract for the construction and delivery of 11 such ACTCM Barges was executed with M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane, a Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) shipyard, aligning with the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives of the Government of India. The project adheres to the classification rules of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS). With the successful delivery of two Barges, this endeavor showcases the MSME’s commitment to advancing India’s self-reliance in defense manufacturing.

The availability of ACTCM Barges is poised to bolster the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy, streamlining the embarkation and disembarkation of articles and ammunition to Indian Navy Ships, both alongside jetties and at outer harbors. This achievement is a testament to the strides made in indigenous defense production and augurs well for the future of defense manufacturing in India.
