INS Sunayna Strengthens Maritime Security through Participation in CMF Exercise ‘Op Southern Readiness – 2023

INS Sunayna visited Seychelles from 10th to 12th July 2023 to take part in Op Southern Readiness 2023, conducted by the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF). The visit aimed to strengthen multilateral ties and enhance cooperation through the CMF exercise, a multinational initiative focused on enhancing maritime security and countering piracy to ensure safety and freedom of navigation in the region.

During the visit, personnel from participating Navies including the USA, Italy, UK, Seychelles Defence Forces & Marine Police, and member nations of EUNAVFOR engaged in a wide range of professional interactions, subject matter expert exchanges, and visits. INS Sunayna conducted lectures and practical demonstrations on various aspects of Navigation, VBSS (Basic and Advanced training), Maritime Domain Awareness, and mass casualty evacuation drills. A delegation from CMF, headed by Cmde Oliver, Commander of CTF56 from Bahrain, witnessed the training exercises onboard.

A combined yoga session was organised onboard, with participation from personnel from Seychelles Defence Forces and CMF, along with the ship’s crew.
