Inauguration Of 600 Residential Accommodations At Naval Base Karwar By Chief Of Naval Staff

Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff, paid a visit to Naval Base Karwar on August 21, 2023. During the visit, the CNS inaugurated two residential buildings consisting of a total of 600 flats at Amadhalli and Arga Naval Base. The inauguration took place in the presence of a large number of families of naval personnel and defense civilians.

The 10 residential towers have been thoughtfully equipped with modern amenities, improved interiors, well-planned landscaping, and external services, all in compliance with IGBC Gold Rating standards. These infrastructural enhancements are part of the ongoing Phase IIA of Project Seabird, which aims to provide housing for approximately 10,000 uniformed personnel and their families, along with defense civilians.

The ongoing construction efforts have generated a significant number of direct and indirect employment opportunities. The project is aligned with the ‘AatmaNirbharBharat’ initiative of the Government of India, as it sources more than 90% of its materials domestically.

The Chief of Naval Staff praised the achievements of Project Seabird in creating high-quality defense infrastructure and emphasized the need for the timely completion of the remaining facilities.
