IAF to Procure 24 Second-hand Mirage 2000 Fighters

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has decided to acquire multi-role 24 second-hand Mirage 2000 fighters made by Dassault Aviation to bolster its fourth-generation fighter strength. The IAF will also secure these for two of its existing squadrons of the aircraft.

The contract is worth 27 million Euros. Eight of these fighters will be procured in a fly-away condition.

IAF first procured these aircraft in 1982. The initial order comprised of 36 single-seater and four twin-seater Mirage 2000 aircraft. In 2004 the IAF procured more of these and in 2011, the IAF upgraded these aircraft to Mirage 2000-5 Mk to increase their usability till 2030.
