New Delhi, January 15, 2024 – Boeing [NYSE: BA] has officially opened its first India Distribution Center in Khurja, Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant expansion of Boeing’s presence in the country. The 36,000-square-foot parts warehouse is strategically positioned to support regional aviation customers, enabling them to maximize fleet utilization. This development underscores Boeing’s dedication to providing efficient, cost-effective, and localized solutions.

Salil Gupte, President of Boeing India, emphasized the importance of the Boeing India Distribution Center in supporting the growth of the Indian market and aligning with the Government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision. The centre will cater to the emergent needs of spare parts for Boeing aircraft in India, reducing lead times, improving availability, and supporting the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) industry in the region.

Boeing’s commitment to enhancing customer service globally is reflected in its investment in regional distribution centres. The India Distribution Center, one of eight such centres worldwide dedicated to Boeing’s commercial customers, aims to provide efficient and cost-effective solutions for the company’s commercial aeroplane customers in the region.

William Ampofo, Vice President of Parts & Distribution Services and Supply Chain at Boeing Global Services, highlighted the centre as a significant step forward in Boeing’s strategy to deliver parts and services precisely when and where customers need them. The strategic location along India’s Eastern Freight Corridor, with proximity to Delhi and the upcoming Jewar airport, reinforces Boeing’s commitment to supporting growth and self-reliance objectives in India. The warehouse, operated in collaboration with third-party logistics provider DB Schenker, prioritizes innovation, safety, and sustainability.

Kinjal Pande, CEO at DB Schenker, Cluster India, and Indian Subcontinent, expressed excitement about collaborating with Boeing on constructing an advanced aviation-focused facility in India. This initiative aligns with DB Schenker’s commitment to India, expanding its local presence and tailoring services to meet the diverse needs of customers in various sectors.

The Boeing India Distribution Center is the latest development in a series of significant investments and agreements by Boeing to support the growth of the civil aviation industry in India. These initiatives include a partnership with GMR Aero Technic to establish a Boeing Converted Freighter line in Hyderabad, the establishment of a Global Support Center in Gurgaon, and a $100 million investment in infrastructure and pilot training programs to meet India’s increasing demand for pilots over the next two decades.
