BIRD AeroSystems Completes Successful SPREOS DIRCM Installation on Airbus A319

Bird AeroSystems, a global leader in innovative defence technology, proudly announces the successful installation of its advanced SPREOS DIRCM and Aeroshield missile protection systems on multiple Airbus A319 aircraft for an undisclosed European customer. This achievement underscores Bird’s steadfast commitment to advancing Directed Infrared Countermeasure (DIRCM) technology, already deployed in a diverse customer base worldwide.

At the heart of this project lies the SPREOS (Self Protection Radar Electro-Optic System), a patented DIRCM system designed for missile approach verification, tracking, and laser jamming. SPREOS integrates semi-active dual-band radar with IR tracker and countermeasure capabilities, ensuring precise protection against MANPADS threats while seamlessly integrating with various missile warning systems. Additionally, Bird’s versatile AMPS solution, tailored for military and civilian markets, provides complete protection against ground-to-air threats, including MANPADS attacks, for helicopters and VVIP aircraft used by heads of state.

Furthermore, the installation included the AeroShield pod solution on the Airbus A319 Aircraft, extending its applicability to Dassault Falcon 7X aircraft as well.
