IIT-B Awards VAdm. Gurtej Singh Pabby Distinguished Alumnus Award

The Vice Admiral was awarded for his contributions towards the advancement of technology and leveraging industry

IIT Mumbai, on March 8, awarded Chief of Material, Indian, Navy, Vice Admiral Gurtej Singh Pabby, the Distinguished Alumni Award for his contributions towards the advancement of technology and leveraging industry. VAdm. Pabby is presently appointed as the Chief of Material in the Naval headquarters in New Delhi.




VAdm. Pabby is an alumnus of NIT (erstwhile REC) Kurukshetra. He graduated in 1980 and then finished his post-graduation in System and Control Engineering from IIT-Mumbai. The Vice Admiral has been pivotal towards the development and induction of latest naval technology like technology like Air Independent Propulsion, PLC Based Automation and Controls and Indigenisation of Gas Turbines. He has been at the centre of Navy’s green initiatives like the MARPOL Compliance, Diesel Exhaustion Emission Control and the use of boil fuels. VAdm. Pabby has also extensively interacted with professional bodies, institutes, and academia along with the Indian industry to encourage participation particularly from the various IIT’s and MSME’s. He has been at the forefront of the construction of equipment for ships and submarines for the Indian Navy and is currently undertaking various R&D and indigenisation projects.
