SAC, ISRO Joins Forces with Nav Wireless Technologies for Cutting-Edge Optical Wireless Communication Technologies
Nav Wireless Technologies Pvt Ltd, a pioneering force in Light Fidelity (LiFi) technology, based in Ahmedabad, has formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Space Applications Centre (SAC), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). SAC, a significant arm of ISRO, has collaborated with Nav Wireless Technologies to implement high-speed light-based communication for satellite communication in space.
In a strategic shift, space agencies are increasingly adopting optical wireless technologies over Radio Frequency for space communication. SAC will leverage high-speed secure quantum key communication utilizing light from the base station to satellites in space, as well as for terrestrial communication.
This advancement empowers SAC to perform quantum key distribution (QKD) and pointing acquisition and tracking (PAT) for satellite-to-satellite communications in space. The technology is poised to play a pivotal role in ISRO’s forthcoming space exploration endeavours.
The MoU, spanning three years, solidifies the partnership between SAC/ISRO and Nav Wireless Technologies. Endorsed by the Department of Telecom (DoT), Nav Wireless Technologies is the premier Indian company to provide this cutting-edge technology to SAC, and ISRO.

LiFi, or Light Fidelity, employs the transmission of data through a light beam spectrum, both indoors and outdoors. This technology facilitates ultra-fast data connections, proving particularly valuable in urban areas with congested radio spectra and in rural regions where fibre optic cables or networks are unavailable.
