Ministry of Defence Procures 5G-Enabled Jaga Drones for National Security
IG Drones, the leading drone technology company in India, has announced that it has secured a procurement contract from the Ministry of Defence to supply drones for surveillance purposes. This marks a significant milestone for the drone manufacturer, as it will support the Defence Ministry in its operations.
The contract involves the supply of drones and essential accessories to the Ministry of Defence. The selected drones boast industry-first features and are enabled with 5G capability, offering advanced functionality and exceptional performance, particularly in extreme temperatures and high altitudes. These drones feature vertical take-off and landing capabilities and can be effectively utilised in defence and medical applications.
By providing enhanced surveillance capabilities, these drones serve as critical assets for the defence forces, bolstering operational efficiency at the borders. With the introduction of 5G services from Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), these drones now offer enhanced precision control capabilities, allowing remote operation from a command centre, thereby eliminating the need for on-site presence.
These drones can be deployed from any terrain without requiring a traditional runway. With a payload capacity of 10 kg and an endurance of approximately five hours, they offer flexibility and longevity for surveillance missions. Furthermore, they are IP67 rated for durability and can maintain connectivity even in remote areas or in the event of failsafe activation, thanks to a combination of NavIC + GPS navigational satellites.
