Kadet Defence Systems Introduces India’s First Indigenous Loitering Aerial Munitions (LAM) for the Armed Forces
Kadet Defence Systems, a prominent aerospace company, has achieved a significant breakthrough in India’s defence sector with the successful development of Loitering Aerial Munitions (LAM) in collaboration with the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO). This pioneering initiative marks a significant milestone in India’s defence capabilities.
Under a unique Development cum Production Partner (DCPP) model, Kadet has unveiled a diverse range of cutting-edge LAM Systems, including Canister Aerial Loitering Munition (CALM), Combat UAVs with stand-off capabilities for munition release, Tactical VTOL UAVs, and a versatile mix of systems capable of swarming and manned-unmanned teaming operations.
In a landmark achievement, Kadet has secured a contract to deliver over 50 LAM systems by the end of 2024, meeting the operational requirements of the Indian armed forces. Additionally, Kadet plans to manufacture approximately 5,000 LAM units over the next 2-3 years, demonstrating its commitment to bolstering India’s defence capabilities.
What distinguishes Kadet’s LAMs is their adaptability to various terrains, including deserts, plains, and high-altitude environments, with an impressive launch altitude capability exceeding 5,000 meters. Notably, these systems are entirely indigenous, with design, development, and manufacturing conducted in India. With over 90% of components sourced domestically, Kadet’s LAMs underscore India’s self-reliance in defence technology, marking a significant achievement without relying on foreign technology transfers.
