INS Nireekshak Promotes India-Sri Lanka Naval Camaraderie Through Joint Dive Training

INS Nireekshak, the Diving Support and Submarine Rescue Vessel of the Indian Navy, arrived at the port of Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, on September 14, 2023, to undertake joint dive training with the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN). This collaborative training initiative is set to span over a week, focusing on enhancing interoperability, cohesiveness, and the exchange of best practices between the diving teams of both Navies.

 

The arrival of INS Nireekshak was greeted with a warm welcome from officials of the High Commission of India in Colombo and the SLN band playing the tune of ‘Sare Jahan Se Achha’. The Commanding Officer of INS Nireekshak called on Rear Admiral PS De Silva, Commander of Eastern Naval Area, and engaged in discussions on various issues of mutual interest.

 

In addition to the professional interaction, the visit includes planned social exchanges, sports fixtures, and joint yoga sessions. These activities aim to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and camaraderie between the Navies of India and Sri Lanka.

 

The joint dive training not only promotes maritime security but also fosters greater cooperation and understanding between the two nations. It represents a significant step towards maintaining peace and stability in the region.
