Indian Naval Ship Tabar, a frontline frigate of the Indian Navy, arrived in Hamburg, Germany, on July 17, 2024, for a three-day visit

During its stay, INS Tabar will engage in several activities aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the Indian Navy and the German Navy. These activities include professional interactions and visits by the ship’s crew to the German Naval Academy, and the ship is open to visitors. Additionally, the crew will participate in community service at an Old Age Home. Upon departure from Hamburg, the two navies will conduct a Maritime Partnership Exercise at sea.

 

The visit not only aims to enhance maritime cooperation between India and Germany but also provides an opportunity to showcase Indian culture.

 

India and Germany share a relationship based on shared values, democratic principles, and a commitment to global peace and security. This relationship encompasses economic cooperation, scientific research, cultural exchanges, and importantly, defence collaboration. The visit of INS Tabar underscores India’s commitment to strengthening these ties and exploring new avenues for cooperation between the navies of both countries.

 

INS Tabar, a stealth frigate constructed for the Indian Navy in Russia, is commanded by Captain MR Harish. The ship is equipped with advanced weapons and sensors and is one of the early stealth frigates in the Indian Navy. It operates under the Western Fleet of the Indian Navy, based in Mumbai under the Western Naval Command.
