General Pierre Schill, Chief of Army Staff of the French Army, Embarks on Visit to India

General Pierre Schill, Chief of Army Staff of the French Army, commenced his visit to India from 27th to 29th February 2024. The visit began with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial on 27th February 2024, where General Schill paid tribute to the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their nation.

Subsequently, a ceremonial Guard of Honour was accorded to General Schill at the South Block Lawns in New Delhi. Following this, he held discussions with General Manoj Pande, Chief of the Army Staff, and other senior military officials, exchanging ideas and engaging in constructive dialogue on various contemporary issues, with a focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation between the French and Indian armies.

As part of his itinerary, General Schill will engage with representatives from the defence industry and observe a Pinaka firing demonstration in Rajasthan. Additionally, he will visit the Sapta Shakti Command in Jaipur and interact with senior military commanders. On 29th February 2024, General Pierre Schill is scheduled to address officers at the esteemed National Defence College (NDC).

This visit underscores the shared commitment of France and India to bolster their strategic collaboration across defence, security, and technology domains. Such bilateral exchanges and joint military exercises exemplify the enduring bond between the armed forces of both nations, reaffirming their dedication to fostering regional stability and promoting international security.
