Bangladesh Navy Chief’s Successful Visit To Mumbai

Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Chief of the Naval Staff, Bangladesh Navy, along with Mrs. Nadia Sultana, President of the Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Association, conducted a productive visit to Mumbai from September 14 to 16, 2023.

 

During his visit, Admiral Hassan engaged in discussions with Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command. The conversations focused on mutual interests, particularly the augmentation of cooperation in maritime operations, training initiatives, and infrastructure development. Admiral M Nazmul Hassan gained insights into the operational capabilities, responsibilities, and ongoing activities of the Western Naval Command. He also had the opportunity to tour indigenously constructed vessels, including the Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel INS Sunayna, guided missile destroyer INS Visakhapatnam, and the Kalvari class attack submarine INS Khanderi.

 

At the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai, Admiral Hassan interacted with Rear Admiral DK Goswami, Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard (Mumbai). The discussions encompassed matters pertaining to the maintenance, repair, and refit capabilities of the Dockyard. The Admiral was given a tour of the cutting-edge Aircraft Carrier Dock, along with other specialized repair and maintenance facilities.

 

Mrs. Nadia Sultana engaged with Mrs. Shashi Tripathi, President of the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association (Western Region), gaining insights into the activities conducted by NWWA for the community’s benefit. The visit also included a tour of the ‘Tarsh’ block printing unit and the NWWA retail outlet Samudri.

 

India and Bangladesh share a deep-rooted history, culture, and geographical proximity. Both nations are dedicated to enhancing maritime security in the region and share a common vision of progress and prosperity. The bilateral relations between the two countries have seen consistent growth, and this visit significantly reinforces cooperation in the maritime domain.
