The Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement, the Jammu Kashmir Islamic Political Party, the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Democratic League and the Kashmir Freedom Front recently disassociated themselves from separatist conglomerate Hurriyat Conference.
This is considered to be a major victory for the security establishment in the North Block and a big achievement for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah. Significantly, the development came in the midst of the Shah’s three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir in April.
In all 12 such organisations in Jammu and Kashmir have shunned separatism so far, reflecting a change in their mindset. “The move demonstrates their trust in the Constitution,” Shah remarked.
In a post on X, the Union home minister said: ‘Under the Modi govt, the spirit of unity rules Jammu and Kashmir. This is a victory of PM Modi’s vision for ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. Shah welcomed their decision to reject separatism and declare complete commitment to the unity of India.
He said the Prime Minister’s vision for a united and powerful India stands even more bolstered today, as such organisations have shunned separatism, proclaiming unwavering support for a united India.
