Kamesh Kasana took charge as director (Other Units)
of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on July 14. He was working as general
manager of BEL’s military communication strategic business unit in Bengaluru
prior to his elevation.
Kasana, who joined BEL in 1993,
brings with him over three decades of distinguished experience in defence
electronics. Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions to
indigenisation, modernisation, and strategic growth of BEL’s portfolio, playing
a vital role in strengthening India’s defence capabilities.
An alumnus of NIT Kurukshetra
with a BTech in electronics and communication engineering, Kasana also holds a
post graduate diploma in business administration and is certified in Six Sigma

Kasana has successfully led key
defence programmes, including the Indian Army’s air defence control and
reporting system (Akashteer) and battlefield surveillance systems, as well as
critical C4I systems for the Indian Navy’s surface ships and submarines. His
efforts have contributed to BEL securing and executing large-scale orders worth
several thousand crores, while simultaneously promoting indigenisation, cost
reduction, and support for MSMEs and start-ups in alignment with the national
vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
As general manager and business
head of BEL’s military communication strategic business unit at Bengaluru, he
played a decisive role in the SBU achieving a turnover of over Rs 1,000 crore

innovation, and enhanced customer engagement. His initiatives helped BEL build
stronger partnerships, improve delivery timelines, and ensure sustainable
business growth.
In his new role as director
(Other Units), Kasana envisions transforming BEL’s other units into centres of
technological excellence, resilience, and global competitiveness. His
priorities include accelerating innovation through cutting-edge R&D,
artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, space technologies, and quantum

deepening collaborations with DRDO, ISRO, private industry, MSMEs, and global
partners; and advancing BEL’s commitment to renewable energy and
