French Defence Procurement Agency Selects KNDS’ NG SHARD Sabot Round

The French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) has placed an order with KNDS Ammo for several thousand SHARD new-generation Armour Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarded Sabot (APFSDS) rounds.
Developed to meet the requirements of high-intensity combat, SHARD is fully compatible with all NATO 120 mm smoothbore platforms, including the Leclerc, Leopard 2 and Abrams tanks. Thanks to an innovative and optimised design, this round benefits from improved accuracy and increased penetration capability against modern main battle tanks. Its redesigned architecture also reduces barrel wear during the firing sequence, extending the service life of systems choosing SHARD.
The performance of SHARD has been successfully validated during trials conducted on the Leclerc tank’s gun as well as on the Leopard 2, confirming its high level of operational effectiveness.
With SHARD, KNDS provides the French cavalry with a decisive operational advantage, strengthening the superiority of armoured forces on modern battlefields and directly contributing to the sovereignty and credibility of French defence.
