Mr Manoj Jain Takes Charge as Chairman & Managing Director of BEL

Bengaluru, June 20, 2024: Mr. Manoj Jain has officially taken charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) as of June 20, 2024. Previously, he held the position of Director (R&D) since September 26, 2022, and also served as the Director (Bangalore Complex) starting August 1, 2023.

Mr. Jain was additionally assigned the role of Director (HR) from November 1, 2022, to May 31, 2023. Prior to these roles, he was the General Manager of the Electronic Warfare & Avionics SBU at BEL’s Bangalore Complex, showcasing his extensive experience and leadership within the company.

Beginning his journey with BEL in August 1991 as a Probationary Engineer, after earning his BE (Electronics) from REC Jaipur (now MNIT) with a gold medal, Mr. Jain has significantly contributed to the Research & Development sector over his three-decade-long career.

During his early years at BEL’s Kotdwara Unit, Mr. Jain played a crucial role in developing Digital Multiplexers, Cross Connects, CDOT Exchanges, and Military Switches. In 1999, he transitioned to BEL’s Central Research Laboratory in Bangalore, where he worked on technologies for Defence Networks and Network & Bulk Security Solutions. In BEL’s Radar business, he contributed to the development of VeXT, Scan Converter, and Display using FPGA.

From December 2017 to May 2019, Mr. Jain served as Chief Scientist at CRL-Bangalore, overseeing advancements in all technical areas. He became General Manager of BEL’s Product Development & Innovation Centre (PD&IC) in June 2019, where he led the development of numerous products and sub-systems essential for BEL, fostering innovation and self-reliance.

In June 2021, Mr Jain took over as General Manager and Head of the Electronic Warfare & Avionics SBU at BEL-Bangalore. He managed all business operations of the SBU and provided a strategic vision for its growth.

Throughout his career, Mr Jain has been recognised with various R&D awards, Key Contributor Awards, Raksha Mantri’s Award, and SODET Awards. He has published numerous technical papers, applied for several patents, and delivered talks to Defence users and DRDO scientists.
