Indian Naval Ship Tushil Makes a Two-Day Pitstop At Casablanca

On its way to its home port in Karwar, INS Tushil, which was commissioned in Russia on December 9, stopped at Casablanca on December 27 to further bilateral relations and naval cooperation between India and Morocco. Morocco is a maritime nation and like India holds a unique geographical position with coastlines along both the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean.

The visit by the Indian warship seeks to further explore avenues for collaboration between both the navies. In the last 12 months, three Indian naval ships, Tabar, Tarkash and Sumedha visited Casablanca, significantly elevating mutual trust and interoperability.

During INS Tushil’s two-day visit, its commander Captain Peter Varghese and a team of 250 personnel engaged with the Royal Moroccan Navy personnel at the functional level, hosted distinguished senior officials and other guests towards furthering naval cooperation, diplomatic ties and fostering goodwill. Thereafter, both navies engaged in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) at sea to improve interoperability and share the best practices.

As the frigate continues its journey towards its home port, it will participate in collaborative exercises with friendly foreign navies, further promoting India’s maritime diplomacy with nations in the region.
