Chief of Staff, Joint Staff of Japanese Self Defence Forces visit ENC

Chief of Staff, Joint Staff of Japanese Self Defence Forces Admiral Katsutoshi Kawano accompanied by a five-member delegation arrived at Visakhapatnam on a day’s visit to Eastern Naval Command (ENC) on March 6.

During the visit, Admiral Kawano interacted with Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral Karambir Singh and held discussions on issues of common interest. The delegation was briefed on the activities of the Command. Later, the delegation visited the indigenously built stealth frigate INS Satpura prior to their departure from Visakhapatnam.

Admiral Katsutoshi Kawano is the highest-ranking officer of the Japan Self-Defence Forces and is serving as the Chief of Staff, Joint Staff since October 2014. Prior to his present appointment, the Admiral was the Chief of Staff of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force from 2012 to 2014.
