HAL subsidiary Naini Aerospace Limited (NAeL) delivers first batch of helicopter structures and assemblies for the Advanced Light Helicopter (Dhruv) to Helicopter Division.
HAL subsidiary Naini Aerospace Limited (NAeL), Allahabad has delivered the first batch of helicopter structures and sub-assemblies for Advanced Light Helicopter (Dhruv) to HAL’s Helicopter Division.
Speaking on the occasion, Director (HR)-HAL and chairman (NAeL), VM Chamola lauded the efforts of NAeL employees in acquiring skills pertaining to the field of manufacturing of aero-structures. NAeL has now developed capabilities in the field of aero-structures apart from aircraft loom manufacturing, he added.
Executive director, Helicopter Division-HAL, V Natarajan received the ‘Certificate of Conformity’ from CEO (NAeL) RK Mishra. NAeL is scheduled to deliver five sets of ALH (Dhruv) structural assemblies.
Earlier a sick unit of Hindustan Cables which had not seen production for 20 years, NAeL has now turned commercially viable. HAL undertook the revival of NAeL and provided structured training to the employees for skill development and other infrastructural requirements.
NAEL secured factory license, statutory taxation, labour and EPFO registrations needed for production and business operations. The infrastructure for loom manufacturing, repair, renovation and infrastructure for aero-structures was set up within a year which is a record of sorts.
The firm also has a robust quality management system in place at the loom manufacturing unit facility which has been cleared by the Joint audit team of DGAQA and HAL. The plant was fully operationalised on 1 June 2018.
On March 27 this year, NAel has made its maiden deliveries of LCA and ALH looms to HAL. The subsidiary had till date delivered over 600 aircraft looms to HAL.
