MoU Signed Between HAL and BBMP for Signal Free Corridor
The MoU will facilitate the right of use of land for the proposed signal-free corridor from Vellara junction to Hope Farm Junction
A MoU was signed recently between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Bruhut Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for facilitating the right of use of land for the proposed signal-free corridor from Vellara junction to Hope Farm Junction. HAL would be handing over its 3100 Sqm land as part of the MoU. After the construction and completion of an underpass at Kuvenpu circle (junction of Suranjan Das road and old Airport road), the land will be returned to HAL. BBMP will be shifting the existing NAL Wind Tunnel Road to the edge of HAL’s land (at Challaghatta) and construct a bridge over Challaghatta drain and storm water drain as an act of reciprocity.
The MoU was signed by CEO (Bangalore Complex)-HAL, Shekhar Shrivastava and Commissioner of BBMP, N Manjunatha Prasad, in the presence of CMD-HAL, T. Suvarna Raju, at the HAL Corporate Office, Bengaluru.
CMD-HAL, T. Suvarna Raju said that decongestion of traffic on HAL airport road crucial and that HAL is contributing in terms of giving the required land for the benefit of both HAL and the general public.
BBMP will construct underpass on HAL airport road near Suranjan Das Road Junction under the provisions of the MoU. The required funds under Chief Minister’s Nagarothana scheme have already been approved by the government of Karnataka
3100 Sqm land will be handed over by HAL for the construction of underpasses and temporarily, additional land of 600m X 8 m from Ambedkar Park to Sports Complex at HAL premises for traffic diversion. The timeline for the underpasses project is about 12 months from the date of handing over the required land.
