Kenyan Defence Minister Visits Western Naval Command

They discussed issues of mutual interest including maritime security and stability in the Indian Ocean Region including strengthening of defence cooperation and enhancing training interaction

Cabinet Secretary for Defence, (Defense minister), Kenya, Raychelle Omamo visited the Headquarters, Western Naval Command on June 22. She was accompanied by a high-level military delegation during the visit.




The Defence minister interacted with Vice Admiral, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Girish Luthra, and other senior officers of the Western Naval Command. They discussed issues of mutual interest including maritime security and stability in the Indian Ocean Region including the strengthening of defence cooperation and enhancing training interaction. The delegation was also briefed about the Western Naval Command.

The Defence minister also had an interaction with a few women officers, posted at the Command, and visited the indigenously built stealth destroyer Kolkata, and the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited
