Indian Naval Ships To Carry Swarnim Vijay Varsh Victory Flame

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Indian victory in the 1971 war, the year 2021 is being celebrated as ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’. As part of Swarnim Vijay Varsh activites in Southern Naval Command, the Victory Flame lit by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being carried to Lakshadweep and Minicoy group of Islands. The Victory Flame will be in the Islands from 5-14 April. The Victory Flame is embarked onboard INS Sujata in Kochi on 5 April and will arrive at Minicoy on 6 April.





The Flame will be thereafter carried to Androth (6 April), Kavaratti (9 &13 April), Amini, Kadmat (11 April) and Bitra (12 April) islands respectively. The Victory Flame will be visiting the houses of War Veterans who are native of these islands and have participated in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The Victory Flame will depart Kavaratti on 14 April onboard INS Kalpeni for handing over back to Naval Base Kochi.
