COAS Reviews Independent Para Brigade’s Operational Preparedness

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Bipin Rawat visited Para Brigade and reviewed their operational readiness on March 10.

A decisive force multiplier, the Brigade is a fully airborne unit. The independent Para Brigade had its trial by fire in the 1971 war when airborne operations by the Independent Para Brigade accelerated the momentum of operations leading to surrender of Pakistan Armed Forces at Dacca.




The COAS was briefed on the readiness of the Para Brigade. He interacted with all ranks, reviewed operational preparedness and specialist training. The COAS complimented them for maintaining highest standards of training, operational readiness, morale and motivation and exemplary synergy with the Indian Air Force.

The Army Chief instructed the formations to ensure readiness and to be prepared to decisively deal with any emerging challenges that may develop.
