Ashok Leyland Signs MoU with ELBIT Systems

Ashok Leyland signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ELBIT Systems for providing High Mobility Vehicles

A MoU was signed on December 12 between Israel’s ELBIT Systems and Ashok Leyland, the largest supplier of wheeled military vehicles to the Indian Army. As part of the agreement, Ashok Leyland will provide High Mobility Vehicles (HMV) to ELBIT Systems for mounting artillery guns and systems. The resultant integrated systems will be targeted towards global export markets.

Speaking on this milestone partnership, managing director, Ashok Leyland, Vinod K. Dasari, said, “Ashok Leyland is proud to be associated with ELBIT Systems and we are certain this partnership will expand our reach globally. It underlines our capabilities of making and designing in India, for the world. This step is also in line with our strategy of increasing contribution from our Defence Business which will help us de-risk our overall business.”




According to Head – Defence, Ashok Leyland, Amandeep Singh, with this MOU, Ashok Leyland will be able to compete on a global stage with global OEMs. “Our strong focus on strategic global defence organizations to provide state of the art mobility technology is being recognised. With ELBIT as our partners, we seek to leverage the capabilities of both organizations and provide world-class mobility solutions across the globe. With our expertise in design and logistics, this MOU marks yet another milestone for us and our country.” he said.

ELBIT Systems, Israel, is a technology conglomerate globally engaged in a range of defence areas including Land Systems, Artillery Systems and Platforms, Howitzers, Mortars and Ammunition. This collaboration is expected to strengthen its defence business and provide an opportunity to export these integrated systems worldwide.
