Another Ceasefire Violation by Pak, Four BSF Troops Martyred

Unprovoked firing by Pakistan along the Jammu IB resulted in four BSF troops being martyred

Despite the ongoing mutual ceasefire agreements with Pakistan, the country often resorts to blatant ceasefire violations and continues the unprovoked cross border fire, including violations the Jammu IB. Maintaining peace and tranquillity along the Jammu IB was the goal of the DGMO level talks that were held on May 29, Sector Commander level meeting of BSF & Rangers on June 4 & telephonic talk on June 12. But last night, on June 12 at 2140 hrs, Post Asraf of the Pak Rangers started unprovoked firing on the BOP-Chamliyal, Ramgarh Sector with flat/high trajectory weapons where the regular border patrol troops of the BSF were posted.




Whilst retaliating to the unprovoked fire, ASI Ram Niwas sustained injuries. Assistant Commandant, Company Commander, Jitendra Singh rushed towards ASI Ram Niwas with reinforcement for prompt evacuation. During the ongoing fire, a mortar shell fired from the Pakistan side exploded and injured the evacuation party. Assistant Commandant Jitendra Singh, SI Rajneesh Kumar, ASI Ram Niwas and Constable Hans Raj Gujar sustained fatal injuries and were martyred in action. Other injured personnel were immediately evacuated to the nearby medical facilities. DG BSF and all ranks BSF salute the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs of the force and offer condolence to the families of bereaved.
