EADS offers a lot more to India than just products. It forges partnership with Indian companies

Chief Executive Officer, EADS India, Yves Guillaume

Yves Guillaume

The year 2013 has begun well for EADS with the opening of Indian Air Force’s tanker bids. Does it make you feel optimistic about other programmes?
We usually do not comment on an on-going campaign, mainly with ministry of defence (MoD). But yes we have been selected by the MoD for the Flight Refuelling Aircraft (FRA). Airbus Military will now enter into negotiations and we do expect to conclude the contract within 2013.
This is the result of a long cooperation between EADS, our divisions and India. Since 1960s, we have been investing and employing in India, and I am sure the government is now considering us as Indian citizens.

What are your expectations in 2013 from various programmes across the three Services, as EADS has interests in various domains like air, land, sea, space and cyberspace?
Our expectations in 2013 aims to cover the complete portfolio of the Group, and you know, we have a very large portfolio of products for India, transport, mission aircraft, missiles, helicopters, UAV, avionics and defence electronics.
Our optimism comes from the technical and operational superiority of the equipment and systems we offer to the Indian ministry of defence as well from the quality of the Transfer of Technology (ToT) and offsets package we offer on these programmes.
And in this list, I limit our offer to the defence activity. EADS is also very strong in the commercial aviation vertical (Airbus, Eurocopter and ATR) and in space sector with Astrium. We are leaders in these markets and intend to remain so.
