We have most of the large Indian business groups flying the Falcon today and we have invested a lot to offer good service, which is strategic to us and which is why we are number one in India
International Sales Director, Falcon Business Jets, Thierry de Poncins

Thierry de Poncins Can you give us a brief update on your business jet activities in India?
The Falcon 7X is our top-of-the-line jet and the biggest aircraft that Dassault aviation is offering today. At Dassault we make, as you know, not only Falcon jets but also Rafale and Mirage fighter aircraft. With regards to the Falcon we have a large family of jets already in the country. We have more than 22 pieces now, and they are shared across Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Delhi and are sure that there are many more to come. We have invested quite a lot in these markets and we have now been present in the Indian market for nearly two decades.

We have most of the large Indian business groups flying the Falcon today and we have invested a lot to offer good service, which is strategic to us and which is why we are number one in India.

Does Dassault aviation also offer special mission aircraft?
We are in special mission aircraft and we have a large fleet operational around the world, though we don’t speak too much about it. Our priority is to deliver to VIP customers, corporations and individuals. But we have a lot of aircraft that are used for medical evacuation, maritime patrol, target towing etc. We have a large fleet of such aircraft but our priority is corporations.

We have a fleet of 2,200 Falcons in the world. We just celebrated the five decades of the Falcon and our parent company Dassault has been in India for over six decades. Since we also make Rafale and Mirage we have access to state-of-the-art military technology. The Falcon has flown to Leh, Kulu, etc. and offers performance that others in its class simply cannot match.

How many business jets have you sold in India?
We already have 22 aircraft in India and at the show here we announced the sale of three more aircraft. Some of the aircraft here in India are very recent, only a few years old while some are 15 years old. The older aircraft can fly for another 20 years.

We sell directly to the customers and we have offices in Delhi and Mumbai and will be opening in Bengaluru soon. Our customers are happy to come to France and also see our link with the military. We don’t have our own MRO but Airworks and Taj Air handle MRO activities here in India. We also have spare parts in Chennai and Mumbai, and so we have everything for service of our customers.
