Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force Signs Performance-Based Logistics Contract

Airbus Helicopters Japan has signed a contract with Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) for Performance-based Logistics (PBL) benefiting from Airbus Helicopters’ new customer fleet availability service offer called HCare. The PBL is a contract method that involves payment of compensation according to the level of equipment performance achieved in terms of availability ratio and stable stock.

The comprehensive agreement covers maintenance, parts supply, as well as repair of 15 TH-135 training helicopters currently in operation at the JMSDF, and will be effective from October this year.

“We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with the JMSDF for introduction of the PBL for TH-135 training helicopters, and to support them thanks to the portfolio of HCare services offered by Airbus Helicopters,” said Stéphane Ginoux, President of Airbus Helicopters Japan. “By introducing the PBL, the JMSDF can improve operational reliability and ensure timely and adequate parts supply, while ensuring long-term cost reduction and achieving simple management.”

HCare is Airbus Helicopters’ redefined services offer, which emphasises the company’s commitment to service quality and performance and provides the rotorcraft industry’s most comprehensive service coverage. HCare is the product of a company-wide transformation, and underscores a commitment to continuous improvement across the entire offer, bringing tailor-made and competitive services to the customers’ doorstep. The HCare offer brings superior customer service support in five domains: Material Management; Helicopter Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and upgrades; Technical Support; Training & Flight Operations and Connected Services. As part of this commitment to constantly support customers around the world, experts are available on-call 24/7 to support customers whenever and wherever they need it.
