India Successfully Test-fires QR-SAM

The DRDO developed missile met all mission requirements

Chandipur, Odhisa: The DRDO-developed short range Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) was successfully test-fired from Chandipur off the Odisha cost on July 3.

The missile which is capable of engaging multiple targets with a strike range of 25-30 km was test-fired from Integrated Test Range (ITR) at 11 in the morning.

“All the technologies and subsystems incorporated in the missile have performed well, meeting all the mission requirements,” said an official handout. ”The missile test met all the objectives,” it added.

In a tweet following the successful test-fire of the QRSAM, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said, “Congratulations to DRDO for successfully test firing Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile. This will add to India’s defence capabilities”.

Secretary, Department of Defence R&D Dr. S Christopher also congratulated scientists on the successful test-fire.

Director DRDL, Shri MSR Prasad, Director RCI, Shri BHVS N Murthy and Director ITR, Dr BK Das monitored the launch operation in the presence of Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister & DG (MSS) Dr G Satheesh Reddy.

The test was conducted nearly after a month of the missile’s first one on June 4.
