GKN Aerospace’s Fokker Business and Dutch MoD Sign Total Support Agreement for RNLAF Aircraft

On March 3 GKN Aerospace’s Fokker business and the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) signed a multi-million Euro total support agreement for a five-year period, covering standard parts supply and services for all of RNLAF’s aircraft, helicopters and multiple support systems. After the five-year period the contract can be extended twice with a period of one year.

The total support solution covers the delivery of the standard parts and additional services such as transportation, management of storage systems, forecasting and stock storage.

RNLAF fleet of Apache-, Chinook- and Cougar-helicopters as well as the F-16s, PC-7s and the KDC-10 tanker aircraft are included in the contract. The total support solution will be delivered from the Fokker facility in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands.

“This is an important innovative performance-based contract which will directly contribute to the readiness of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. I am very proud and happy to take this important step together with our strategic partner GKN Aerospace Fokker,” said Commodore Mario Verbeek.

Paul Vorstermans, Vice President at Fokker Services, said, “Fokker is proud to be selected for long-term total support of the RNLAF fleet. We recognise and appreciate the confidence that the RNLAF has demonstrated in our team and we look forward to further develop our relationship. This contract will enhance the position of Fokker in the military support market providing a total support solution for this specific group of parts.”

Fokker was selected in 2012 by NH Industries as standard parts provider for all NH90 helicopters worldwide and holds a strong position as an integrated after-market service provider for Airbus, Boeing, Fokker and Bombardier aircraft.

Third PC-24 Prototype Completes Maiden Flight

On March 7, P03, the third and final PC-24 prototype, took off on its maiden flight. In the wake of the maiden flights by the first PC-24 prototypes, P01 in May 2015 and P02 in November 2015, this marks another major success for Pilatus. The P03 completes the fleet of PC-24 test aircraft. The first two prototypes have flown a total of 1350 hours to date, including numerous significant test flights. Certification flights will be flown with the series-conform P03.

Certification of the PC-24 is expected in the 4th quarter of 2017. Initial deliveries of the 84 pre-ordered aircraft will go ahead immediately after certification is obtained.

Oscar J. Schwenk, Chairman of the Board of Directors, commented, “I’m delighted to have seen the P03 in the air today! The PC-24 test flight programme is proceeding as planned and the results are very encouraging. The data we have so far indicate that our Swiss business jet exceeds published performance figures. I am confident that certification will be achieved in the 4th quarter, and am naturally looking forward with immense anticipation to the moment when our first customers take delivery of their PC-24!”

The eye-catching P03 sports a blue livery with special pigments designed to produce a superb shimmering pearlescent effect. The P03 will also be kitted out with a ‘Zermatt’ executive interior following the maiden flight.

The P03 will be presented to the general public for the first time at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva, 22-24 May 2017.

The PC-24 is the first business jet worldwide to be equipped with a cargo door as standard, and is capable of taking off and landing on very short runways and unmade strips. The jet also boasts an extremely spacious cabin designed for easy adaptation to personal requirements. Six stylish colour themes have been created in partnership with Design works, a BMW Group company, and are named after well-known ski resorts such as St. Moritz, Zermatt and Aspen.

IndiGo Adds Sharjah as Sixth International Destination Consolidating its position in the Middle East market, IndiGo, India’s largest and fastest growing airline has announced Sharjah as its sixth new international destination. Effective March 20, IndiGo will operate its new daily non-stop flights between Sharjah-Kozhikode. The airline also plans to operate one daily non-stop flight between Sharjah-Thiruvananthapuram effective 8 April 2017.

IndiGo Appoints Cindy Szadokierski as Vice President - Airport Operations and Customer Services

IndiGo, India’s largest passenger airline, announced on March 21, the appointment of Cindy Szadokierski as Vice President - Airport Operations and Customer Services. With a career in aviation spanning over 30 years, Cindy has held senior leadership positions primarily in the areas of airport operations as well as several other roles in operations, reservations and sales at United Airlines.

She brings with her the experience and expertise through a proven record of operational leadership and delivering customer services at a large scale. Cindy will take on the role of Vice President - Airport Operations and Customer Services effective 17 April 2017 and will be reporting to Sanjeev Ramdas, Executive Vice President.

Cindy will bring with her the knowledge of global best practices and she will be able to help the airline adopt them in its operations. Said Ramdas, “While we are proud of what we have achieved so far, we are looking to build on this as we continue to grow. Cindy will help us enhance the customer experience at IndiGo in our effort to make it even more hassle free and comfortable for our customers to fly with IndiGo.”
